The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals to preschool and school-age children from needy areas during extended vacation periods. Organizations which may sponsor the summer program are limited to: (1) public or private nonprofit school food authorities and residential summer camps; (2) state, local, municipal or county governmental entities; (3) private nonprofit organizations, subject to certain conditions; and (4) public or private nonprofit colleges or universities which are currently participating in the National Youth Sports Program and/or Upward Bound Program.
