What is the Jr. Chef Competition?

The MISSISSIPPI Jr. Chef Competition is a competitive culinary showdown that celebrates the passion, talent, and creativity of young chefs in MS School Districts. This annual event brings together culinary artists (Grades 9th – 12th), from diverse regions of the state. Each Jr. Chef Team has the opportunity to showcase their culinary skills, creativity and talents, all while competing for the coveted title of Jr. Chef Champions.

 

Where is the competition held?

The Jr. Chef competitions are typically held throughout different regions of the state (North, Central & South MS). Hosting sites must be equipped with user friendly & clean cooking stations, working kitchen appliances and utensils. Competition sites must also be able to accommodate at least three (3) cooking teams, and comply with the State Agency rules and regulations (details included on page 2 of the application packet)

 

Who can Participate?

The Jr. Chef Contestants must be High School students with the desire to compete at a high level of competition. The young contestants should be eager to display their skills and culinary knowledge through dedication and hours of practice. The young chefs must have the ability to execute recipes as written, think on their feet, make swift decisions, and transform ordinary ingredients into extraordinary dishes.
