The Mississippi Achieves blog shows how high academic standards positively affect teaching and learning and is a forum for educators to exchange information and resources. The blog is geared toward a broad audience of educators, parents and others with an interest in public education in Mississippi.
The EdUpdate section of the blog includes announcements for educators and district leaders about professional development, events, resources, grants and awards.
The Strong Readers = Strong Leaders blog includes information and resources to help improve literacy among all school children, particularly students in pre-kindergarten through the 3rd grade. Strong Readers = Strong Leaders incorporates Mississippi’s Literacy-Based Promotion Act requiring all 3rd graders to demonstrate they read well enough to be promoted to 4th grade. Parents, educators and community members are all encouraged to be involved in equipping students to be strong readers.
The Superintendent’s Annual Report includes details about statewide academic achievements and contains pertinent financial, statistical and other important information at the state and local school district levels.
School Focus is the biannual magazine for K-12 education in Mississippi, published in August and February of each year. It features K-12 students, educators, schools, and organizations from districts across the state, as well as curriculum and standards updates.
Connections is the magazine for K-12 career and technical education (CTE) in Mississippi. The biannual publication features students, educators, schools, and organization from approximately 50 career pathways across 16 career clusters. This Mississippi Department of Education publication is produced by the Research and Curriculum Unit at Mississippi State University. Issues are disseminated in print and electronic forms in May and December each year.
