WHO: Dr. Carey Wright, state superintendent of education
WHAT: Wright will provide an update to the Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) on the progress the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has made in the first year of a five-year strategic plan and the MDE’s next steps for the coming year. The presentation will focus on the Board’s five goals for improving public education.
In December 2014, the SBE unveiled its strategic plan. The 5-year plan builds upon the SBE’s existing priorities of improving literacy, particularly among K-3 students, reducing the dropout rate and improving overall student performance.
