MDE Sets 2013 Dropout Prevention Conference

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education will present the 2013 Dropout Prevention Conference, August 27-29 at the Jackson Convention Complex. The conference is sponsored by the Office of Dropout Prevention, Office of Special Education, Office of Homeless Education and Office of Career and Technical Education.

Several breakout sessions, including sessions specific to special education topics, have been planned. The event will feature several motivational speakers, including Josh Shipp, star of the documentary TV series “Teen Trouble” on Lifetime and teen advice contributor for MTV. Shipp, author of “The Teen’s Guide to World Domination,” was named a CNN Young Person Who Rocks and listed on INC. Magazine’s 30 under 30 list. He is scheduled to speak Aug. 27 at 9:15 a.m.
