WHO: The Go HARD Dropout Prevention campaign, sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Dropout Prevention and Compulsory School Attendance Enforcement and the Office of Special Education, will hold an end-of-year statewide summit. Hundreds of students from around Mississippi will attend.
WHAT: The summit will feature Mississippi and national speakers, who will share personal stories that will encourage students to realize their potential and help them overcome obstacles.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 23 from 9 a.m.-2:15 p.m.
WHERE: Mississippi Trademart in Jackson, Miss.
WHY: Nationally, every 26 seconds a student drops out of school. That’s more than 3,000 students every day who never make it to high school graduation. Middle school and high schools students from select school districts across the state have been introduced to this and other devastating national and state dropout statistics through the Go HARD (Heart. Attitude. Resilience. Dedication) Campaign. Go HARD, a youth-led movement, focuses on supporting and encouraging middle and high school youth in the state to stay in school and graduate.
