Mississippi high school juniors’ spring 2023 ACT results released

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has released ACT results of all public high school juniors who took the test during the spring 2023 statewide administration. Mississippi is one of 16 states that administers the ACT for free to high school juniors.

Chronic absenteeism rate decreases to 23.9% for Mississippi school districts in 2022-23

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has released the most recent school and district chronic absence data report, which shows 23.9% of Mississippi public school students were chronically absent in 2022-23, a decrease from 28% in 2021-22.

Advanced Placement (AP) participation and achievement increase among Mississippi students for 2022-23

JACKSON, Miss. – During the 2022-23 school year, the number of Mississippi students taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams reached a record high of 12,044 public school students taking 16,983 AP exams, with a record high of 5,860 exams earning a qualifying score.

JACKSON, Miss. – Today, three schools in Mississippi were among the 353 schools across the nation named as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023 by the U.S. Department of Education. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
