State Superintendent Visits Madison Career and Technical Center

March 21, 2016

JACKSON, Miss. – Dr. Carey Wright, state superintendent of education, visited the Madison Career and Technical Center Monday to talk to students and teachers about career and technical education. Wright toured the center’s programs, which include: Engineering and Robotics, Health Science, Polymer Science, Simulation and Animation Design, Digital Media Technology, Automotive Service, and a Teacher Academy.

“The Madison Career and Technical Center provides a great example of how school districts prepare students for college and careers while also meeting industry demands,” Wright said. “Career and Technical Education enriches the high school experience by exposing students to high-tech, real-world learning opportunities.”

Formerly known as vocational and technical education, career and technical education encompasses the highly skilled education required for today’s job market. Reflecting this shift, the Madison Career and Technical Center’s motto is, “Career Tech: High Tech, Not Vo-Tech.”
